Here are a few usefult tips about cooking that will come handy to prepare the recipes in this book.

Planning

You need to do some planning before any cooking session.

  • Read the recipe before the time you intend to cook to be sure you will have everything you need to make it.
  • Be sure you know how to use any cooking tool or equipment you will need.
  • Get everything ready before you start - tools and ingredients, including any peeling and chopping that needs to prepare the ingredients.

Measuring

Measuring the ingredients is part of the preparation. You get much better results if you measure ingredients carefully.

  • Use measuring cups and spoons for dry ingredients. Level the surface with a spatula on the flat side.
  • Place the measuring jug on a flat surface before adding the liquid. This helps to see the level better.

When you work

  • Follow the steps making sure you are using any tool the right way.
  • The cooking skills you will be using depend on the recipe you have chosen.
