Autumn pear crumble

This autumn pear crumble recipe makes a delicious dessert and helps to include fruit in your family's diet.

Ingredients

3 pear (medium size pears, peeled and sliced)
2 t lemon (lemon juice)
3 T oats
3 T sugar (brown sugar)
2 T flour (all purpose flour)
1 pn cinnamon
1 pn ginger (ground)
1 T butter (cold)

Instructions

Preheat oven to 350º Fahrenheit.

Arrange pear slices in a greased 1 quart oven-proof dish. Drizzle with lemon juice.

Combine oats, flour, cinnamon, ginger and sugar in a mixing bowl. Cut in the cold butter with a knife until the mixture is crumbly. Then add the almonds. Sprinkle the flour/oat mixture over the pears and bake in the oven for about 30 minutes or until hot and slightly golden.

Serve immediately with vanilla yogurt or vanilla ice-cream.

Notes

You can mix some chopped almonds or walnuts with the crumble mixture, or sprinkle slivered almonds on top before getting the crumble to the oven, almonds will toast nicely then.
