Gingerbread

The easiest recipe to make cookie shapes that look as lovely as they taste.

Ingredients

1 T butter
1⁄2 c flour (all purpose flour)
2 T sugar
2 dr vanilla extract (optional)
2 egg (beaten)
2 T honey
1 t spice mix (optional)

Instructions

Heat oven to 375° F.

Mix flour, sugar, baking soda and spices in a large bowl. Rub in butter until the mixture becomes crubmly.

Mix honey and molasses with the beaten egg. Pour on top of the dry ingredients. Mix until a dough forms.

Knead for a couple of minutes on a floured surface and then roll out until roughly 1/6 of an inch thick.

Use cookie cutters to make shapes or cut shapes with a knife, freehand. Place dough shapes on a greased baking sheet.

Bake for 10-15 minutes, or until golden brown.

Remove from oven and transfet to a wire rack to cool.

Notes

You may use vanilla extract, spice mix or both.

If using spices, mix to taste ground ginger, allspice, cinnamon, clove and nutmeg.
