Hard sauce
Hard sauce recipe to accompany Christmas pudding.
Ingredients
1⁄2 cup butter
2 cups sugar (confectioner's sugar, sifted)
1 pinch salt
1 tablespoon water
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Instructions
Cream butter.
Add gradually confectioners' sugar, creaming until light and fluffy.
Blend in salt, boiling water, and vanilla extract.
Chill until serving time.

Notes
Blend 2 teaspoons rum or French's Brandy into this hard sauce, if desired, to make rum or Brandy butter. For a kid friendly rum or Brandy butter, use rum or Brandy flavoring not the spirit.
