Nursery Rhymes party

Those silly little rhymes and songs we learned as children and have taught our own children can make a fun theme for your next kid's party. Choosing food for your nursery rhyme party is as simple as using the food mentioned in the rhymes, or with a little more time and creativity you can create items from the rhyme with food. Below are some rhymes that mention food and suggestions.

Down by the Bay - Watermelon

Georgie Porgie - Pudding and Pie

Here We Go 'Round the Mulberry Bush - Mulberries really are quite delicious if you can find them. Blackberries could be used as a substitute.

Hot Cross Buns

Humpty Dumpty - Eggs, whole hard boiled or scrambled.

I'm a Little Teapot - Use iced or hot fruity or herbal teas for the kids.

Little Jack Horner - Plum Pie.

Little Boy Blue - Create "haystacks" by melting butterscotch chips and mixing Chinese noodles into them. Drop into piles of "hay" on waxed paper and allow them to set.

Little Miss Muffet - Curds and whey or the kids might just appreciate cottage cheese. Make spiders. Spread peanut butter between two crackers. Push pretzel stick into the peanut butter to create legs. Could also add pretzel legs to sugar cookies and create spider faces with candies.

Muffin Man - Children familiar with the Shrek movies may also associate a gingerbread man with the muffin man.

Pat-A-Cake - a scone or biscuit recipe would work well with this. Let the kids put their initial on scone.

Peter, Peter, Pumpkin-eater

Peter Piper - pickled peppers

Pop Goes the Weasel - Mulberries

This Little Piggy - Roast Beef

Queen of Hearts - Tarts
