Easy chocolate chip cookies

Kids love to make chocolate chip cookies as much as they love to eat them. This recipe is ideal to bake together. Let them have their cookies with a glass of milk and you've got a healthy treat.

Ingredients

1⁄2 c sugar (ordinary sugar)
1⁄2 c sugar (brown sugar)
2⁄3 c butter (salted butter, softened)
1 egg (beaten)
1 1⁄2 c flour (all purpose flour)
1⁄2 t baking soda
1⁄2 t salt
6 oz chocolate (chocolate chips, your favorite)

Instructions

Heat oven to 375°F (190°C)

In a large bowl, cram both types of sugar with the butter and egg.

Now for the the dry ingredients. Mix in flour, baking soda, and salt to make a stiff mixture, stir in then chocolate chips.

Drop dough by the spoon on a baking sheet. Leave plenty of room around as the cookies will expand.

Bake for 10-12 minutes or until light brown.

Leave to stand for 3-4 minutes on the baking sheet before removing to a rack to finish cooling off.

Notes

There is no need to grease the baking sheet. If you don't have a large baking sheet, bake your cookies in tow or three batches.

A light colored - shiny, silver - baking sheet works best for cookies. The bottom of your cookies may scorch in a dark colored one.

Don't let your kids eat too many cookies at once as they are delicious but high in sugar. One cookie, especially with milk, is healthy. Three cookies is not.
