Nachos

Very easy to prepare. Kids can help by adding toppings and spreading corn chips on the baking sheet fro the oven or platter for the microwave. Serve with guacamole, sour cream and salsa cruda and enjoy.

Ingredients

2 c cheese (shredded)
  toppings (sliced olives, refried beans, cooked meat, salsa)

Instructions

Spread corn chips on a baking sheet. Top corn chips with grated cheese or, if using, refried beans, beef, more grated cheese and sliced olives.

For the oven

Heat oven to 350°F (180°C)

Bake for 5-10 minutes, until the cheese has melted.

For the microwave

Microwave on medium-high for 3 minutes, or until the cheese melts.

Notes

For beef nachos, brown 1 lb ground beef and 1 onion, finely chopped, untill cooked. Season with salt and pepper and drain of the fat. Use as topping. Goes well with refried beans.

Toasted pita bread triangles or bread traingles also come out well when prepared nacho style.

Adults may appreciate the heat from 1 jalapeño chili, thnly sliced, but this may be too strong for children and best avoided.
